Rachel Roberts' Mission Statement
Welcome, friends and mages! Thanks for visiting the world of Avalon. I can't believe how fantastic the whole Avalon experience has been. From the very first printing of Circles in the Stream, I have been lucky enough to meet and write to incredibly creative fans, all of whom use Avalon as a starting point to explore their own imagination.
By far the most popular question I get asked is: where do I get my ideas. Of course I love reading, and have been inspired my whole life by books and movies and music. But what really made me want to write something like Avalon is the magic I see every day in the natural world. Growing up, I would spend hours walking in the forest behind my house, often with my cats, my horses and my friends. When I was the same age as Emily and Kara and Adriane, I started to appreciate how amazing these adventures were. Everywhere I looked I saw magic: the first spring wildflowers, tiny waterfalls in the mossy creek, deer bounding through the forest, a rainbow sparkling through the vibrant green trees. Sharing those moments with my friends, furry and human alike, made me realize how connected we all are. It doesn't matter if you're a blossoming buttercup or a scampering ferret, we all share the same incredible home.
I wanted to help protect the environment, because everyone should have a chance to find all that magic just waiting to be discovered. So I started writing, sure that somewhere in my rock collection there had to be a few magic jewels, knowing my cats and horses could talk to me if I just listen hard enough, and remembering the happiness I felt sharing all those things with my friends.
My greatest hope for Avalon readers is that these stories will help you discover the magic waiting for you in your own backyard. Once you find it, you'll do everything you can to make it flourish, and your friends will want to get involved, too. One spark of magic can ripple out and make a huge difference, like circles in the stream.
The magic is with you,
Rachel Roberts

Be Afraid!
Be VERY aFr- Wait! It’s me, Ozzie,
I mean Frankenferret.Happy Halloween! Can you believe it? It’s October again! Lots of fall activities are going on at Avalon HQ. Rachel is busy writing. The mages are busy with school and mage stuff.
The brimbees are busy with whatever they do, and me…
I’m busy counting all the new things coming your way in the world of Avalon.
First, the Avalon Manga Omnibus is coming out in December. If you missed any of the mage’s Warlock Diaries manga adventures, now you can read the entire three volume series in one glorious book! Sigh, could I be any cuter?
Speaking of books, Tasha is proud to present her brand new book club page. It’s right here. So many readers have told us how much fun they have in their book clubs, so Tasha decided to help everyone learn how to start their own. It doesn’t matter if you read from a book or on your iPaw, reading rocks!
Okay, now for aShadow Warriorupdate – Rachel is working away on the new series. I’ve managed to ferret away a few bytes of sneak peekin’ info:
The Mage Academy has opened in The Garden on Aldenmor. Teenagers from all over the web are pooling their knowledge and learning about magic. All kinds of magic! There are even dark mages attending.
But what you really want to know is: what the heck is Adriane doing? It is Shadow Warrior after all. Indeedy-doo it is, and Adriane is training to become a Master of Shadow, learning all new magic and fighting ridiculously horrible monsters, discovering the secret of Zach’s past and confronting the terrifying Shadow Master and --- gee, that doesn’t sound very warm and fuzzy. Better make sure I squeeze into some more scenes. It’s coming in 2011 so check back for details as they emerge.
Thanks to all the terrific fans and their bondeds who have sent their artwork, photos, and mages to the website. Have a safe Halloween and don’t eat too much candy. Give it to me instead.
Luv and peace out,
Ozzie

Hello, all mages!
Tweek here with a Team Magic update. Things have been rocking at Avalon HQ. The final book in the Web of Magic series, Full Circle, will hit stores the first week in March! Bawow!
I just read it and my twigs are rattling with excitement, I have the best lines! Oh, and there's also some other exciting stuff in there.
And now, your humble E.F. will review what else is going on around here.
1. We have a new section on the site called: 'Circle of Mages'. It's a place where you can all design your own mage. If you want a hint on how to get started, here are a few suggestions:
a. Name - every mage needs a name.
b. Mage type - for example, blazing star, healer, warrior, and dragon rider. But there are other kinds of mages out there, including dark mages. A mage can also be a mix of different types (part healer and warrior).
c. Bonded(s) - every Level 1 mage needs at least one bonded animal. Level 2 mages need a paladin, an elemental creature that comes to their aid when they are in great need.
d. Jewel - each mage has a jewel that is totally unique and tuned to their magic.
e. Element - each mage uses a different kind of elemental magic, like fire, water, earth, air, and time.
f. Personality - what's your mage like? (strong-willed, kind, loves music, funny, etc.)
g. Magical Skills - mages can have a variety of abilities, including super strength, spellsinging, jewel crafting, etc.
h. Background - here's where you can add anything else you want everyone to know about your mage, favorite foods, music, etc.
2. Coming soon:
Avalon: The Warlock Diaries, Volume 3. We're planning a special musical surprise for the release of the new Avalon manga. We'll post more details as we get closer to launch.
3. My boss, Rachel, has completed the Avalon: Web of Magic series. But don't worry about not having more Avalon; Rachel has just started the NEW Avalon series. We will post previews, art, and inside information in the next few months. If you like Adriane, Drake, and mistwolves, hang on to your wolf stone. This is going to be an amazing adventure as Adriane explores her Level 3 mage powers!
Now that you're all up to date, I need to recharge my HORARFF to make room for all those new mages. Until next time, keep the magic real!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM AVALON CENTRAL! (10-19-09)Hello, mages! Tweek here with a very important announcement.
Book 11, Dark Mage, is about to be released!
When you read Dark Mage, please DO NOT reveal the end of this book! This is of vital importance. Because of the extraordinary and shocking revelations, it is critical you do not tell anyone else, lest it spoil the experience of Dark Mage for other Avalon fans.
As much as you feel the need to shout, scream, cry, shimmy, or explode, DO NOT reveal the end of this book until all have had a chance to find out for themselves the truth about Dark Mage.
Everyone here at Avalon Central is counting on you to keep the secret.
Peace out.
Ozzie at Odds (09-17-09)OZZIE: Hello mages and whoever else is out there. Hope everyone is doing great. Where have I been? Well, I'll tell you. Just managing and organizing everything at Avalon central. All the whats, the wheres, the hoots... Things don't happen by themselves around here, you know, even with the Tweekster, Frizzle, and Ariel to help me.
TWEEK: Big news! I finished the book review for our blog. Heart of Avalon is in stores now. It's the delightful tale of a plucky sea elf and his voyage to a mysterious island in the middle of--
OZZIE: Gah! That's not right at all. It's all about Emily's adventure on Aldenmor where she discovers all these new things about her magic. And then I save the day, of course.
TWEEK: No sea elf?
OZZIE: Yes, there's a sea elf! But Emily learns how to become a Level Two mage with the help of a very unexpected teacher.
Who?
Hoo?
Woot!
OZZIE: I can't tell you that! Go read it yourself! What else?
TWEEK: According to my data crystal, the second volume of The Warlock Diaries--the Avalon manga--is off to the printer. Look at this exciting preview.
And of course Rachel is busy finishing the third volume of The Warlock Diaries as well as the giant two book conclusion to the Web of Magic story arc.
We are also printing 500,000 bookmarks to go into classrooms this fall with our friends at the Humane Society Youth. It's a very special item to promote reading and helping animals. (Click here to check it out!)
OZZIE: Check, what else?
TWEEK: Rachel did mention a lot of elves in the second manga series. I believe the Farthingdale Community Players are presenting a spectacular musical extravaganza, featuring Renfy the shoe elf as the gargoyle.
OZZIE: That's redicu-genius! Don't you have a head of leaves to soak?
TWEEK: Well, yes.
OZZIE: Okay, until next time, ciao!
FRIZZLE: Chowderhead!

Tweek news2
Tweek Takes the Helm (06-01-09)Greetings, friends of Earth! This is Tweek, Experimental Fairimental, reporting live from Ravenswood. You may have noticed me as you've been walking around your parks and backyards. Just be careful poking that pile of leaves. While Ozzie's out shopping for snacks so he can write his new welcome letter, I thought I'd tell you about the first ever Avalon manga, The Warlock Diaries. It's a brand new adventure with some truly twigtastic artwork-you've never seen Avalon like this before! And since it's a new format for the mages, I couldn't help doing some research. According to the data files in my HORARFF, the word "manga" means "comic" in Japanese. (That's what I'm saying in my picture up there.) The origins of the manga style date back to traditional Japanese art. Today, manga is an important form of literature read by people of all ages in Japan, and it's becoming extremely popular in the United States, too.
I walk away for ten minutes and you get your twigs all over my welcome letter! All I asked you to do was finish that pile of difficult research. Did you tell them about the manga yet?
I was just about to illuminate our readers on the significant influence of Japanese manga on American art-
Gah! I got here just in time. This is Ozzie, the official Ravenswood welcome mage, and this letter is all about manga, manga, manga, manga, manga-did I say manga? I've been busy supervising every step of the process, sitting on Rachel's shoulder to make sure I was in the story enough, and making sure the artists put me in at least every other panel. I'm happy to give The Warlock Diaries two paws up! Now, for the really important stuff. Am I more handsome in the novel or in the manga?
Take a look at this fantastic piece of fan art to help you decide. Who are we kidding, it's impossible!
You'll have plenty of time to admire me whenThe Warlock Diaries hits the shelves, and thanks to Tweek's research, you're totally prepared to sit back, relax and spend the summer with me. And don't forget - when you go to that picnic or barbecue, I'll be right there. So pass the potato salad.
Sayonara!
Ozzie and Tweek
And Frizzle!
Ozzie's Spring Cleaning (04-07-09)AuOoooOOOO!!
That's mistwolf for where's my shoe - I mean, Book 9 is going to be in stores soon and we're cleaning out all the shelves to make room. In this book girl meets wolf then girl loses wolf then meets her first wolf then a big red dragon almost squishes yours truly and then some ghost wolves run amuck and then the spirit pack does the dance of spring - GaH! Well, I may not have every detail just right, but Ghost Wolf is coming!!!!!! Get auoooooout of the way!
Also, here at Avalon HQ, the very first Avalon manga is done - woo hoot! Avalon: The Warlock Diaries Book 1 comes out this June, but we can't wait that long for you to see it. Every week we will be posting preview pages so you can all get a good sneak peek.
AND thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions for the Avalon store. We're working on adding new stuff - check out this t-shirt art!
We're also packing Rachel's bags to send her to the Comic Con this summer in San Diego. She'll be signing books on Sunday, July 26 - more details soon. By the time she leaves, I'll probably have enough cookies stuffed in her suitcases to feed every super hero at the convention!
Time to get back to cleaning, Ravenswood is a big place and the brimbees took my badminton racket.
Later,

Ozzie's Update (02-02-09)Hello all mages, and anyone or thing that might be checking in.
It's me, Ozzie, the computer mage.
It's already February and we're taking care of business. Let me give you a head's up.
First of all, meet the newest member of Team Magic: an earth Fairimental named Tweek. Don't step on a pile of moving twigs, that could be him. Tweek comes on board in Book 7, Song of the Unicorns.
With Tweek's assistance, the Avalon online store will be open in a few weeks. We're trying out all kinds of important mage accessories like posters, magical baby animals, bags, tee-shirts and who knows what else. Sorry, no handsome, fuzzy, ferr-elfs. I'll have to look into that.
We're also very busy finishing up the all new Avalon manga series, The Warlock Diaries. Book 1 goes out this summer. I am so adorable. The mages meet an entire new race of magic users! And, I'm still adorable. You'll see for yourself as soon as Tweek gets the preview section up.
Keep those Pet Palace pics coming, or if you feel like expressing your mage magic by making art, or carving a rutabaga, send a picture to the Fan Gallery.
Also, coming in March, we've got Book 8, All's Fairy In Love and War. Wow, that's some action packed story! Then in June look out for Book 9, Ghost Wolf, featuring the exciting return of one of our best friends! You won't believe what happens!
That's it for now, Rasha dropped her cookie in my CD drive. Gah!
Peace out,
Ozzie
Ozzie's Update (12-12-08)Bah Hum-blog!
Reporting in from Ravenswood! It's me, Ozzie, saying a big fuzzy hello to all you Avalon fans. Who knew elves were so popular on Earth this time of year? Evidently this is a very magical season. It's all about giving presents, apple pancakes, friendship, dumplings, family, and cookies! I thought I'd find out a bit more about this delicious holiday, so I asked the mages what they are getting each other.
Emily
I'm making tons of cookies and specially decorating them with different colors of frosting and sprinkles. I even found a wolf cookie cutter to make Adriane mistwolf cookies, and for Kara, a batch of pretty blazing stars with pink frosting, of course. I'm going to be so covered in flour and frosting. Luckily, I recruited Ozzie to help-I can't wait to give my friends their yummy treats!
Adriane
Unlike some people I can think of, I'm not much for mall crawling. I'm going to take lots of pictures of Ravenswood and then paste them together, kind of like a jigsaw puzzle, to make a complete panorama of the preserve. That way Emily and Kara can look at Ravenswood right on their bedroom walls anytime they want.
Kara
Even a shopping expert like me can't think of what to get Adriane for Christmas, but for Emily I started thinking about something musical. That gave me an awesome idea for both of them. I'm going through my music collection, picking my faves, and burning all the coolest, hottest songs onto a CD. I'll design a totally cute cover that says: "The Blazing Star Collection." Then I'll put the CDs in these sparkly pink CD cases I saw at the mall. Sometimes I'm so good, I can't believe it myself!
Ozzie
Yes, I can interview myself! You thought just because I'm from Aldenmor I wouldn't want to get in on this present giving business? Well, think again! I was gonna paint a portrait of myself for each mage, but it turns out that ferrets don't have thumbs. Then I started making gingerbread houses out of graham crackers and gum drops and frosting, but they looked so good that - well, you know. Instead, I'm making Gift Coupons worth one good deed. That way when one of my friends needs a favor, they can cash in. I think I'm getting the hang of this holiday cheer and goodwill, if I do say so myself.
And don't think I'm slacking off around here. All the mages are off on a brand new adventure in Book 7 with thirty new unicorn friends! You won't believe what happens to me. I become a berret! That's a beaver ferret. Gah! I don't want to talk about it. There's also a manga preview coming soon so we can show you how handsome I am. More special guest blogs, more me, more artwork, more me, a new pet and animal photo section, oh, did I mention-more me. YaY!
I want to say to all my fans and friends out there that this is a wonderful world and thank you for letting me share it. Give your animal friend a hug for me-a regular friend would work, too. I hope everyone has a s'more stuffed season filled with fun, friends, and ferrets! May all your magical holiday dreams come true.
